Ryan Conarro & collaborating artist Celeste Staton, as resident artists with University Settlement is a founding member of Brooklyn's Future Historical Society at BRIC, a multi-generational team of artists, activists, and educators collaboratively creating a public project documenting the past and future of Fort Greene and Downtown Brooklyn.
Brooklyn’s Future Historical Society
In Spring 2019, Ryan joined as one of 22 founding community collaborators co-creating the Future Historical Society at BRIC Arts Media in Brooklyn, a Fort Greene-Downtown neighborhood archive that honors neighborhood histories while transforming shared and equitable visions for the future. The first project of FHS premiered at the BRIC Open in April 2019: an audio walk of historical neighborhood legacy locations and organizations.
